A recent road trip took me to the Indianapolis area and The French Seam. I found this shop easily on-line, and the directions and store info was all up to date. The location of this store is near a major shopping area and conveniently right off the I-69 highway. I only had 30 minutes to spend on this trip but believe me, I could have stayed a lot longer!
[columnize] French Seam is not a huge store; however, it is an essential shop for anyone that loves sewing and appreciates exceptional quality. They have cultivated a beautiful collection of high-quality fabrics for apparel and quilting projects, and also a good selection of indy patterns and fundamental notions. The shop organization is easy to follow with fabric beautifully displayed by type and color. I ended up buying 2 yards of beautiful Italian wool for a skirt and accompanying material for the lining.
Something unique that I have never seen before is their fabric consignment area. I love this idea! We all have fabric at home that realistically is not going to get sewn, so why not offer it up on consignment? I took advantage of their consignment area by picking up some beautiful pink charmeuse at an incredible price. This store also has a large classroom area and offers sewing instruction for all levels.
I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful- especially given my limited time to shop. I very much enjoyed my visit to this store and will definitely be making another trip there- this time staying a lot longer. I would recommend you do the same!
