After spending a winter in Detroit, traveling to Southern California was a welcome assignment. What made it even better was finally being able to shop at The Fabric Store, which I describe in this post.
Sunny Southern California
February is the perfect month for a Southern California work trip, and The Fabric Store-Los Angeles is the perfect shopping destination. I had such a great time shopping in this store and already am planning a return visit. The assembled collection of high-quality fabric and associated pricing was amazing. I just happened to show up during one of their annual sales and was overjoyed to learn that just about everything in the store was an additional 30% off. Yay, more fabric for me!
Lovely Liberty
This store has the most astounding selection of Liberty London fabrics, and not only do they carry Tana Lawn, but also Stretch Tana Lawn, Saville Poplin, Silk Chiffon, Twill, and even Jersey. I made my first garment out of Liberty Tana Lawn print this summer, and it has become a welcome wardrobe staple. Since then I have been obsessed with Liberty prints and of course their quality. To see so much Liberty fabric in one place was mind blowing. And my mind was further blown when I saw the prices. Even before the sale discount was applied, the prices were the lowest I had seen. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time in the Liberty section and picked out several beautiful prints.
This shop is also known for its extensive collection of Merino wools. I enjoyed feeling my way through these tables and ended up with some good choices. My favorite is a lovely medium weight gray that I plan to make into a pencil skirt.
And finally, I spent time selecting some heavier weight woven fabrics that I will use to make pants. I found a black cotton twill that should work perfectly! I also worked my way through the denim rolls and picked out a beautiful weave for my soon-to-be-finished jeans block.
Superior Staff
In addition to all the fabulous fabric were the staff. Two young women were hard at work when I stopped in, and both were extremely helpful throughout my visit. They immediately gave me a tour of the store layout and offered lots of assistance with fabric selection and cutting. Staff can make such an impression on a shopping experience, and The Fabric Store employees helped to make mine a great one.
I will most definitely return to The Fabric Store in Los Angeles, California; however, I will be bringing an extra suitcase!
