The definition of completion is the act of finishing something. In my work life, I finish lots of everyday tasks but rarely do I take the time to sit back and admire my checked off to-do list. As a maker; however, I do find myself celebrating the completion of a garment every time I add the tag. Just like an artist signs his/her work, I claim my sewing creations with the addition of my custom tag. And the act of sewing this small cotton icon into the finished seam at the end of a garment helps me take the time to admire my work. Tags like mine are available to order on-line (mine came from Dutch Label Shop) or you can even print them yourself at home.
Other than having profound thoughts on celebrating my sewing completions this week, I also spent lots of time spring cleaning my house and sewing workroom. The addition of my super fabulous cutting table has allowed me to reorganize my sewing space and fine tune my work habits. I did finish one garment this week; New Look #6471. It had been awhile since I made up one of these patterns and I found this one to be easy to follow and quick to make. I adore the neck-tie blouses that all my Instagram friends are sewing up, and I couldn’t wait to make one for my work wardrobe. The neckline tie is such a stylish and timeless detail and the pattern options make this a versatile piece for my growing me made garment collection.
