[columnize] After a whirlwind travel schedule last month it was refreshing to be home and sewing this whole week. And not only that, I also got a special delivery into my workroom- a cutting table! I have been drooling over the unique work table that Brooks Ann Camper has in her studio. I’ve used it several times now when I’ve been fortunate enough to work with her, and I absolutely love it. The only difference is that I am a full 8 inches taller than Brooks Ann, so some adjustments to the height were made. Thankfully she has a wonderful blog post all about this table and gives you the directions to make your own. I happen to have a super handy carpenter that built some garage shelving for us and thought he would be up for the task. Brooks Ann’s directions were so good, he was able to quickly put it together and it got delivered this week- yay! As this is a super huge table, it is residing in the garage. I thought long and hard about this before it was made, and although I would love to have my new table inside, it just wont fit. With this new addition; however, I was able to rework my dedicated sewing space so I will be sharing that post soon.
At my sewing machine this week were two fun projects. The first being the Sorbetto from Colette Patterns. This newly revamped pattern has three different style options and some updated fitting changes. I made the first version last year and loved the result; however, was really interested to see what the new pattern had to offer. I chose version 3, which includes the semi-fitted shirt with center box pleat, short set-in sleeves, bust darts, and bias bound arm and neck edges. I found the fit to be similar than the earlier pattern and loved the sleeve addition.
The second garment I completed this week was the new Fenway Bra by Orange Lingerie. I was so excited to see this pattern announcement on the opening day of baseball and immediately got to work on it. I had a silk charmeuse remnant piece in my stash for a lingerie project and the Fenway was the perfect fit. I created a detailed blog post for this project and you can read that here.[/columnize]
