Hello! I’m Jennifer and the person behind this blog and website. I am fortunate to come from a long line of makers who modeled the importance of pursuing their creative callings. I believe that everyone possesses a creative spirit and I hope this website will inspire yours!
While I am fond of anything I can make, sewing remains my constant passion. I learned how to sew as a teenager and have been working at it in some form or another ever since (You can read my complete sewing story here). When I first started sewing, I quickly realized that I didn’t know anyone else who sewed. This fact was puzzling since I knew people were out there buying fabric, machines, and notions, but where were they? Like me, I think most were sewing quietly alone, not confident enough to admit that their hands created the skirt, quilt, or shirt they were wearing. When I was fortunate enough to connect with other sewists, I found our conversations steadily moved away from the projects and more toward the personal nature of sewing. Since then I’ve been motivated by a desire not only to make but also to share. Sharing what we’ve made, interacting with other sewists, and ultimately celebrating the art of making is what drives me. And since my current day job frequently finds me on the road, I have been able to visit many amazing shops and like-minded creatives along the way.
After starting this sewing blog, I realized that photographing the process and the finished product was essential. I also realized that I enjoyed every aspect of styling, taking, editing, and sharing high-quality pictures of the items I’ve made. With this new-found focus, I threw myself into learning still life & product photography, and am happy to present this growing collection of blog posts, original photos, and helpful tips.
I hope you will enjoy the resources on this site and I look forward to connecting with you!
